after a week of joyous celebrations, the welcome back to work just feels extremely apocalyptic. (contemplating 3 day mc to make this week end early…) i must say that this year though… i’ve managed to break away from convention.

usually, cny for me is plain and simple. 3 days of family time. end. this year, i’ve overcome the laziness in me and made it a point to spend time with friends. wheee.

chu 1, went to party world with xp and ely (together with their friend and/or family). ok… so you’re thinking now… how is it that i will enjoy myself considering i can’t sing chinese songs. well… i was saved by english songs really. ;)

chu 3, caught ’cj 7′ with xp and ely in town. it’s not a bad show… though the story is short, but i enjoyed it nevertheless. kitty zhang was amazingly attractive in that white cheongsam. and stephen chow shows a side of him i never thought was possible. maturity. very hard to imagine considering the fact that i’ve seen so many of his ‘god of gamblers’ shows in the past. (lol i feel like watching them all again really.)

today, met up with mao for coffee in town, talking about life in general, looking at that sexy eurasian chick outside starbucks together, walking around aimlessly around town looking at clothes/shoes/bags/wallets. i’m not exactly the best company, so i really have to thank mao for putting up with me… anyways managed to use more of my wisma vouchers today. bought a pair of skinny jeans from topman. *YES U HEARD ME RIGHT. SKINNAYYYYY*

barely 11pm… i think i should go sleep. at least i won’t feel so shitty about work tmr. sigh. toodeloo~

sigh. i hate myself. i really do… i always seem to let chances pass by. literally. sometimes i just envy people who do what they feel like doing. without reservations, without shame even.*SIGH* i probably won’t get another chance now. but well if i did… I PROMISE YOU THIS… i’ll just go for it. *begs shamelessly*

either way… here’s how my weekend went. well… just friday night. went to Privé with aaron and josh and met aaron’s ex-colleague from CSR asia, laura. glen and jun joined us a while later and we chilled for a while more. we later got a cab and travelled down to mimolette @ the saddle club. the place was quite exclusive, probably can’t get in without invitations or someone to bring you in… anyway we were greeted with lots of eye candy, apparently lots of models from brazil, russia and who knows where else. everyone there was just so beautiful. anyways we happened to spot utt at the party… and omg… he’s really short. (ok he’s handsome but let me gloat for a bit ya?) all in all the place was nice, but… the crowd was kinda disappointing. no one was really dancing… and at about 3am, the dance floor cleared and all that was  left was this ang moh desperately trying to hit on the last asian chick left on the dance floor. (this was after a failed attempt on jasmine, disgusting eh?) anyways, we decided to head on down to st james (first time ok) to groove a bit. anyways it was really coincidental but i saw fran at the place! talked to her for a bit and then went to dance with the rest in movida. movida isn’t too bad a place… just that we were probably there too late and the crowd was more or less gone. oh well, had GREAT company that night so i shouldn’t be complaining. i think i got back at 6am and proceeded to collapse on my bed and slept my saturday morning away!

i should be happy. victory should be sweet. but… all i feel is an emptyness. an emptyness that just dulls my mind. well it’s about time i heard about it. i’m glad someone told me. in fact i’m quite glad i didn’t get any notification from you. i dare say i’m bitter. a part of me says, “let it go. it doesn’t matter to you anymore.” and another part of me yells out in defiance. to cut things really short… thanks for proving me right. i knew that you would have succumbed first. and as much as you hate me saying this… “i told you so.” for the very last time.

work has been mostly boring, but then again… it’s probably cause we’re still fairly new. anyways… the best thing that’s happened to us so far in the company was when we were barely there for 1 hour, the HR officer (cute one at that) told us that we were gonna get half day on the 18th of Jan and… *dramatic pause* also that we were gonna get a week long CNY holiday! *fanfare* i don’t think i’ve ever had a cny holiday that long… even in school it’s always first 3 days and that’s it. 5 days max if you get chu 1 on wednesday. anyways… so damn happy!

nothing else much happened this week though. just random meeting up with people. oh. today was freaking sinful. had brunch with family at Pete’s Place at the Hyatt… buffet style… everything is good there! after that met up with aaron and we subsequently met up with josh for dinner at ecp… seafood! yeah at first we were supposed to go to ‘Fishermen’s Village’ at Pasir Ris… but then we walked for abt 20 mins and realised that the place wasn’t there anymore. (ask josh for the lovely pic he took) oh well… ironic how we found ‘Fishermen’s Village’ at ecp… anyhow… the main point of the day is that i have been over-eating. all this rich food… i think i need to invest in what my company is producing… ugh.

sigh. i can’t believe the holidays are over already. it seems like life this past month has past by at the speed of light. although i’ve done considerably more things these hols… it still feels like i could have always done a bit more. either way… first day of work’s tmr.

some major highlights this week… went ice skating on friday. the feeling was so nostalgic… (thank god i didn’t fall at all…) i think the last time i skated was at least 6 yrs ago…

saturday was a bit more busy, morning session was tennis with vincent, elayne and aaron. i’m learning a bit more everytime i play… too bad vince is heading off to shanghai. (no more fei fei wantan mee lunch with him) oh well… the good thing is i got some exercise from the tennis session! later that night i had dinner with aaron, celia and fanny at spaces @ my humble place. (do correct me if i’m wrong) after which we caught beauty world! i have to say that this rendition of the play far surpasses the one i saw ages ago, the one with evelyn tan as ivy… love the new ivy’s voice… and she does a far better portrayal of ivy than evelyn tan. after the show we headed down to ms in the mx5… imagine 4 people in a coupe, other than the pins and needles in my lap it was actually bearable! we settled down at “Martini Firm” later, where we had quite a bit to drink. i think we left the place around 3am and went to clarke quay for supper at one of the chinese restaurants… i truthfully can’t remember the name of the place. but i remember that we had dumplings and xiao long baos, decent fare if u ask me. i think we left the place around 4 plus, cause i remember falling asleep at 5am. really had fun that night. i really have to thank aaron for inviting me along for the ride… and of course everyone else for the lovely company. thoroughly enjoyed myself!

ok… i’m 6 hrs away from getting up for first day of work. wish me luck peeps!

vincent: good luck in china, i’m sure you’ll be having alot more fun that i will. just make sure you don’t do anything you will regret! bon voyage!

most possibly the most well spend NYE’s ever. don’t think the one in bangkok counts as being in the same league… anyhow… pan-pacific + good company = happiness.

i slept at 7am (last man standing) and woke up at 930 for church! ok …so i’ve never been to new year’s mass… dunno what possessed me to go. either way it was my first mass service in town. the choir members were even wearing frocks! so old skool lah.

the year is starting… time to make something out of my life once again. or… at least die trying. cheers all.

yes. that’s 4 times in 1 week! (5 if you count being in the area too.)

first time was actually the return trip from batam. batam wasn’t actually as bad as i imagined. lucky for us the weather held up for us! we managed to squeeze in a whole day of cable skiing. (i still haven’t managed to stand up successfully. :( but neither has wenchuan.) After which we had a super cheap seafood dinner which was not too bad! imagine 10 dollars for crab, prawns, etc. the second day was spent having the famous pizzas at harris hotel and then squeezing in a quick go-kart rally before our late afternoon ferry ride back to sg. came back sore and burnt, but mostly happy. (i need a good massage.)

second time was when i met aaron to go watch the golden compass. i never read the reviews so i had no ideal it was a series of films. i thought it was gonna be epic really… so you can imagine how sad i was at the end of the show. bleh. i absolutely hate waiting for sequels. had carnivore for the first time in my life for dinner that night. the food is absolutely divine (if you’re a meat lover) and i would highly recommend the lamb and pineapples!

third time was on sunday where we celebrated vincent’s pre bday! no choice since adeline is leaving for japan before the actual day. anyhow, we had dim sum + peking duck and e-fu noodles at tung lok.  (more good food) we later caught good luck chuck at gv as well. not too bad a show. but like all romantic comedies in hollywood… everything seemed so rushed. but still… JESSICA ALBA. *drool*

fourth time was on tuesday… finally met up with mao! it’s funny how it felt like it wasn’t the first time… anyhow, i ran into a few little boo boos before actually meeting her. like how i made her drive from queenstown mrt to commonwealth and back again. (4 or 6 u-turns right? :p) oh and for the first time in my life… i stepped in wet cement. thank god i was wearing berms and slippers… (that was me rushing over to our new rendevous point after realising that i was making her u-turn like mad.)  spent the entire day walking around vivo… little material accomplishment but i guess you can say it was still a fruitful day.

fifth time was yesterday! (oh. u can skip this part if you don’t count this one) was in orchard area for most part of the day, but after that we headed down to privé for drinks! what is privé? it’s a newly opened restaurant/bakery/watering hole that’s located in a small bay just beside harbourfront centre. it’s quite a distance from the main road and it would probably be wise to take a cab in or drive. but it’s a really nice place. right beside the chilling area is the bay where people can dock their private boats. just like in the movies!  anyhow, the view at night is spectacular, they have a wide variety of drinks and also food to go with your drinks! (yes they have flaming lambos.) but, the place is more a pre-party place where u go chill a bit before heading out, cause the kitchen shuts at 1030 and the place closes at 12midnight. but nevertheless, it’s a great place. would be good to check it out before people start to flock to it.

and that’s why i conclude that i’m officially… vivoified. *dramatic bow*

haha. i got home at 6.40am last night. wat the hell right? anyways it was a good night/morning of catching up really. (sorry for the long post and walls of texts.)

went to wala² first without knowing what band was playing, but was nicely surprised by the appearance of unxpected for their 3rd set! and i was just here 3 days ago too… some people might think i’m crazy. anyhow… we started talking about prague and how everything was in general. apparently, the women in prague are all goddesses or something… and i believe it’s true. also, cost of living there is pretty alright, aaron believes that he could easily have settled down there and lived comfortably for the rest of his life. so eventually… we came to a conclusion that in any event we don’t get to do what we like for a living (in terms of our careers) there’s always a last resort called prague.

Somehow the topic on women always surfaces whenever we talk. this time it was about how there is a lack of beautiful women in singapore, and how all the women here all think that they are ‘oh-so-gorgeous’ or ‘to-die-for’  even when they clearly aren’t. it’s a sad sad singaporean mentality. in fact, we agreed that at least if they came to terms with themselves, it would make accepting them far easier. and then there was the thing about singaporeans not being able to speak proper english. (and thinking that they are fully understandable) oh well. it’s a twisted little world we live in.

after the 3rd set, we headed down to the living room at the marriott. it was a nice, cosy, after-hours place and we sat down to a round of absolute mandarin + ginger ale. it was pretty empty at first, but after our first round. we started getting throngs of people streaming in. and they were mostly expats with their filo counterparts. well, the place filled up pretty fast after that… and soon we found ourselves in a little-bangkok. oh well, i couldn’t help but stare at the frisky white boys rubbing up to the scantily clad filopinas jiggling their ample bosoms. either way, we had another round of mandarin + ginger and finished up with ANOTHER 2 rounds of mojitos. i have to say i really like the mojito, it’s a very refreshing drink.

so… 4.50am and we were hungry. we were thinking for places to go have breakfast, and decided to head down to upper thompson to the casuarina. sad thing was it was closed. oh well. next time. thankfully, the prata house was open and it wasn’t too far away. the food was good, especially the cripsy prata, and the mee hoon goreng. ate till about 6am and then decided to head on back. oh. and i got to drive an mx5 from aaron’s place all the way home! quite amazed at myself considering i haven’t touched a manual car since i got my license 2 years back. but it was definitely a thrilling ride for myself. zipping around in a small red convertible… good times indeed.
